Jakhongir Usmonov is an experienced business development, financial services and legal professional with a strong track record across Uzbekistan and the wider Central Asian market. Jakhongir's main expertise focuses on business development, strategic advisory, and the origination and execution of complex corporate and special-situations mandates across the region.

Prior to joining Montfort, Jakhongir spent over a decade in legal practice with leading regional law firms, where he advised on and led a broad range of M&A, corporate finance, investment and cross-border transactions. His work involved advising major international and regional corporates, financial institutions and investors on complex transactions and strategic matters across Uzbekistan and Central Asia.

He subsequently moved into senior executive and advisory roles across fintech, financial services, technology and Islamic finance, leading businesses in Uzbekistan and advising financial institutions, investors and corporates on market entry, strategic development and regulatory matters. His experience spans corporate strategy, business development, M&A, corporate finance, fintech, Islamic finance, government relations and complex cross-border projects.

Jakhongir received  his bachelor’s degree from the University of Westminster and an LLM from BPP University. Based in Tashkent, he works across English, Russian and Uzbek and has an extensive network across Uzbekistan’s business, financial and professional services sectors.
